Downtown Yoga Shala (DYS) 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training Program is intended for anyone wanting to delve deeper in understanding the transformative power of yoga in their lives and have the tools to share and empower others through teaching yoga. Whether you just want to deepen your understanding, advance your practice, or gain the confidence and voice to teach yoga to others, this program will take you there.
Our comprehensive Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training program complies with the requirements for Yoga Alliance registration. Graduates will be able to register with Yoga Alliance at the RYT-200 Level. Our training will provide a strong and solid foundation, whether it be for your own personal practice, or to launch your career as a successful yoga teacher, competently and confidently guiding your students through a safe, mindful, yoga practice.
DYS is a community-oriented studio. You will be part of a yoga community committed to supporting and encouraging one another as you evolve in your own yoga path, share your love of yoga, and support one another along the journey.
Led by Noell Clark, the DYS Faculty includes established DYS and Bay Area yoga teachers in Eric Shaw, Jana Kilgore, Prajna Vieira, Elika Aird and Veronica Cruz. It is an 8-month journey of self-discovery, empowerment and deep study.
Throughout this 8 month/200+ hour program, the following topics will be covered:
History of Yoga
• Yoga Philosophy
• Ancient Texts and Teachings: The Bhagavad Gita & The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
• Yoga Asana
  • Posture Clinics on Alignment of Foundational Yoga Poses
  • Sanskrit Names, Benefits and Modifications of the Poses
  • Physical Anatomy Principles and Injury Prevention
  • Energetic Body and Subtle Anatomy
  • Effective Communication through Finding Your Voice and Listening to Bodies
  • Hands-on Adjustments
  • Art and Science of Sequencing
  • Confidence-building through Practice Teaching
  • Pre-Natal Yoga Basics

• Pranayama and Meditation Practices
• Ayurveda and Yoga Nutrition
• Yoga as a Business – Realities and Rewards, Caveats and Surprises



This is a weekend only training. We will meet one weekend per month from September to December 2014, and two weekends per month January to April 2015. The dates/hours for this training are listed below:

Tuition before June 1st: $ 2650 After June 1st: $ 2850
Those who pay in full 30 days before the program start date will be able to start their unlimited yoga at that time.
