Part I: Prasana Yoga Practice Session A (Hatha Yoga)

Saturday, February 27, 9am -12pm

124These sessions will teach us methods for overcoming the obstacles in our lives through a practice that aims to ground your body and mind in new ways.
You will explore a range of new vinyasas that begin in saddle posture and bring us into movement in all directions. We will learn mudras, myths, mantras, pranayamas (breathing practices), vinyasas and the philosophy behind these actions. Through this, you will learn yoga’s holistic approach to both the higher and lower manifestations of human happiness.

Part IV: Getting Fresh with Ganesh: Everything you Always Wanted to Know about the Elephant-Headed God (Lecture)

Sunday, February 29, 2-5pm

127Ganesh: Fat, elephantine, garlanded with jewels.

Is he your mama? He sure acts the part: removing your obstacles, granting boons, inspiring muses.

Where did this dude come from? Ganesha is the tubby, elephant-headed son of Shiva, master of money, King of Fate. He’s loveable and awful at the same time and inclined to being stacked on your mantlepiece because he’s so cuddley, likeable and weird.

In this talk we tell his myth: how he came to be associated with obstacles, ganas (spirits), art, and rupees—and the low, low chakra: muladhara. Parvati’s son, made from dirt and honored everywhere.

Come learn the history of Ganesha.
